Career and Technical Education

CTE is for the Career and College Bound

In today's workplace, continued education and training are givens.  CTE programs include a sequence of 3 or 4 high school courses taken in addition to the academic core classes of math, science, English, and social studies.  Students completing both the academic requirements and a CTE program have had the advantage of graduating from high school prepared for college and the workplace.

Many CTE students are enrolled in Career Academies, which are designed to provide students with college preparatory curricula with an integrated career theme.

Florida Ready to Work is a new program that tests and scores job skills and work habits.  It is a way for participants to prove to potential employers that they have the right skills and attitude to be successful on the job.  Employers in more than 40 states now recognize the program, making the Florida Ready to Work Credential a valuable tool to companies, industries and human resource departments across the country.  It can be used to supplement employee assessments, identify skill gaps and build skills of current employees.

Florida Ready to Work is free and easy.  This assessment is offered right here in Osceola County.  The Adult Learning Center Osceola and Technical Education Center Osceola, both are open to students and the public.  Gateway High School is also an assessment center that is open only to students.  Please call for an appointment.
